Whirlpool Facility Implements TierConnect Technology
Quality Improvements Recognized with Non-Conforming Material Management Software
PLYMOUTH, Mich., November, 2008 — TierConnect, Inc., specialists in Enterprise Material Management, is pleased to announce the successful implementation of its Non-Conforming Material Management application and Quality Issue Resolution software at the Whirlpool Findlay, Ohio facility.
TierConnect solutions were identified by company management in late 2007 as part of Whirlpool’s quality improvement initiatives. A pilot program was started in April and ran through the summer months of 2008 at the facility. The Findlay plant manufacturers a wide selection of dishwashers with complex manufacturing processes due to variety of options available on the various units.
As part of a total global quality process improvement initiative, TierConnect assisted plant quality engineers with corrective actions and quality issue resolution tracking. Six Sigma Black Belt and TierConnect’s director of professional services, Ken Hamkins, was onsite at the facility during most of the implementation process.
“Whirlpool’s Ohio facility has improved its processes tenfold during the implementation of the software,” stated Hamkins. “Manufacturers are challenged by product quarantines and recalls. When these problems occur, most manufacturers shut down production, recall parts, and incur huge financial losses. Whirlpool can now isolate quality and warranty issues using the non-conforming management solution. They can minimize scrap, rework and disruption to production.”
